Edmund Optics, a global manufacturer and supplier of optical components and assemblies, is proud to announce the acquisition of son-x, an advanced technology leader in ultrasonically assisted systems and precision optics manufacturing, founded in 2011 in Aachen, Germany, as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute.
This strategic acquisition strengthens Edmund Optics' diamond milling capabilities and consolidates its position as a trusted partner in providing innovative solutions to its customers worldwide. By integrating the expertise and resources of son-x, which has developed pioneering ultrasonic-assisted diamond milling technology and redefined precision optics production worldwide, Edmund Optics is poised to generate even greater value, efficiency and innovation. The company is now able to supply complex surfaces machined on multiple axes (up to 5 axes) ranging from 1 mm to 1 meter.
