Numérixplore is an event that will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Poitiers, at the Futuroscope. This 1st edition is the culmination of an educational journey to raise awareness of digital professions for all 4th graders in the Vienne region.
This project is funded under TNE, which aims to support 4th and 3rd graders towards digital professions and develop their digital skills with a view to gender equality. Supported by the Service de Région Académique au Numérique Éducatif (SRANE), the Vienne department and Futuroscope, in partnership with ALPHA-RLH, CATIE and INRIA, the day will feature :
- Testimonials from women in the digital world, with the presence of ALPHA-RLH, CATIE and Inria,
- A video featuring 15 testimonials from women and men involved in digital professions, to show students the diversity of profiles, skills and professions,
- A series of workshops (Digital Marketing, Robotics, Trusted AI, Cybersecurity, AI, VR&Orientation, UX Design, Connected Objects...).
Numérixplore will welcome:
- 47 middle schools (34 public and 12 private in the Vienne département)
- 1,350 4th and 3rd grade students
Women are vastly under-represented in the digital professions, with only 28% of professionals currently working in this sector. And it's not just at secondary school level that the situation is clear-cut: nationwide, only 15% of girls go into scientific and technical fields. Yet skills in the digital sciences are increasingly in demand, and offer stimulating and varied career opportunities.
Numérixplore aims to rebalance this trend more fairly, by raising students' awareness from secondary school onwards of the many opportunities offered by this booming sector, for girls too.
Preparing for tomorrow is essential: deconstructing prejudices, reassuring, informing, are all actions that are key to the future. Awakening students, and female students in particular, to the different professions in the digital world:
- it's acting to perhaps create vocations,
- it's acting to demystify prejudices about prerequisites,
- it's acting to reassure the talents of tomorrow,
- it's acting to remove the cultural limits that you may have when you're a girl, then a woman...
Whatever your level of study, your appetites, your ambitions, digital professions are a real gateway to the professions of tomorrow.
In addition to the extensive program on offer on September 26 at Futuroscope, an Instagram account dedicated to this initiative will enable all guidance-seeking students to view inspiring, varied video testimonials from 16 experts... and follow the day from afar!
